We Brits spend approximately £1 billion on Pies every year and so naturally, they deserve a self-titled week on our calendars. Both sweet and savoury variations of this humble dish have been enjoyed by many for centuries and whilst Steak & Ale and Apple & Blackberry are certainly noteworthy, we wanted to highlight some more adventurous concoctions in celebration of British Pie Week.

Leek, Stewed Venison and Wild Mushroom Pie

The use of venison gives this pie a luxuriously rich flavour, balanced cunningly with delicate Leeks and Wild Mushrooms. This one may require some time and attention but the unique, robust flavour will make it all worth the while.

For the more health conscious among us, looking for a lighter option, this crust-less pie is full of nutritious, vitamin rich ingredients. Seasoned with lemon and parsley and topped with pine-nuts, this pie certainly doesn’t sacrifice flavour.
