The introduction of Gender Reveal Parties saw prospective parents taking an envelope that enclosed the sex of their future baby to a baker who would then bake a cake with either a blue or pink centre, symbolising the baby’s gender. However, in the last year or so, this trend has exploded and future Mum’s and Dad’s are looking for new, innovative ways in which to reveal the gender of their baby to their family and friends. If you happen to be in the midst of pregnancy and looking for an exciting way to reveal the gender of your baby, here are a few of our favourite ideas and tips…
1. Pick a Theme
Liven up your party by selecting a theme that will be consistent with the food, decorations and games. Season dependent themes are a fun idea! For example, if your party date is during Easter time, you can host an Easter Egg Hunt for your guests with one particular egg encasing a blue or pink centre.
2. Heighten the Anticipation
Games and activities provide a brilliant platform for this and the possibilities are endless. Why not create a treasure hunt with the treasure chest being filled with blue or pink baby grows, dummies and toys? Or fill a piñata with coloured confetti. Alternatively cake pops can be drawn in an orderly fashion and bitten into by guests with one having a coloured centre. You could even purchase some bespoke, personalised gender reveal scratch cards, which will also act as a lovely keepsake from the memorable day.
3. Balloons
Take the all-important envelope to a balloon retailer and request a balloon filled with either pink or blue confetti. For something a little more extravagant, a box can be filled with blue or pink helium balloons to then be opened on the special day.
4. Baby Grow
If you like the idea of keeping it simple, in the same fashion you can take the doctors envelope to a clothing shop and get them to wrap up a blue or pink baby grow which can be unwrapped in front of your guests on the day.
5. Be Creative with Food and Drink
Rather than sticking with the stereotypical cake, why not serve some pink or blue mocktails? Or, dish up some typical pregnancy craving foods, we’re talking pickles, Ice-cream and chillies!
6. Incorporate Technology
On such a pivotal day, it’s important to have all of your loved ones around you. So for any long distance relatives, bring their virtual presence to the celebration via a skype call!
